Our coop is proud to share a beautiful garden space. Maintained by the coop board and community, the garden features a variety of gathering areas, a grilling area, a number garden beds, and a shared green lawn.

Garden Policy

General Rules

  • The Garden is available to residents between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. 

  • Respect your neighbors, please keep loud noise to a minimum.

  • Non-residents must be accompanied by a resident at all times.

  • Children under 10 years of age must be supervised by an adult.

  • Dogs are not permitted in the garden without prior written approval.

  • Fireworks, ball-playing, scooters, skateboards and in-line skates are prohibited.

Dog Rules

  • One dog is allowed off leash from 10am or 7pm (or sundown) Monday through Sunday. If more than one dog is in the garden during these times, all dogs must remain on a leash. 

  • You are liable for damage or injury inflicted by your dog(s)

  • You must be in control of your dog(s) at all times

  • Unattended dogs are not allowed in the garden

  • Shareholders who see unattended dogs or other rule violations should email the coop board

  • Aggressive behavior, biting, fighting, and excessive barking are not allowed and you must remove your dog immediately

  • You must leash your dog if there is more than 1 dog in the garden.

  • You must leash your dog when it is outside the off-leash area; you must carry a leash for each dog while you are inside the off-leash area

  • You must clean up after your dog(s) and deposit waste in the garbage

  • All dogs must be licensed and vaccinated

  • Dogs must not enter garden plot areas

We will periodically survey shareholders to make sure all rules are being upheld. If complaints arise, the dog rule may be revoked.

Bicycles: Bicycles can be kept in the garden from April 1 through October 31. During this time bicycles may only be stored on the provided bicycle racks.

Events

  • To host an event, party, barbeque, picnic or any other gathering in the garden which will have more than 10 non-residents in attendance, residents must fill out the Garden Use Request Form.

  • The garden shall remain accessible to other residents during these non-exclusive events.

  • All events must occur between the garden hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

  • No amplified music is allowed. Music played through a radio or portable music player must be kept at a reasonable volume.

  • Residents hosting events are responsible for clean-up. Please bag all garbage and place bags neatly in or near the 77 garbage boxes.

  • There will be no fundraisers and no charging of admission to the garden area.

  • Major holidays are popular in the garden. Please be courteous when planning an event on a major holiday to be sure that all residents are free to share the garden on those days.

  • Size of Event Disclosure / Insurance: Residents must inform the garden committee of the expected number of guests for the event. As well of any special or rented equipment (such as furniture or a port-o-potty) that will be brought to the garden. Extra-ordinary equipment must be approved by the garden committee. 

Barbeque grills

  • Any grill used must meet Fire Department regulations.

  • Grills must be placed in the area past the stone pavers (in the far corner).

  • Children under 18 years of age cannot be left in charge of the grills.

  • Please make sure all fires are completely extinguished before leaving the garden. Used charcoal and ash must be disposed of in the marked metal receptacle. Remove your grill when it cools off.

  • Cover all grills before leaving the garden. Grills rust quickly in the rain.

Planting

  • The care and upkeep of the garden is done strictly by residents. Residents with an interest in gardening can request use of a plot from the Garden Committee, which will approve the size and location of the plot. Those interested in contributing to upkeep, but who can give time only sporadically, can join us on our special Garden Days held throughout the year, or by contacting a member of the Garden Committee.

  • Do not put in plants, remove plants or move plants without approval of the Garden Committee.

Garden Committee: The Garden Committee is responsible for organizing seasonal clean up days, assigning garden plots and keeping the events calendar.
